Pete Lerza, DNP

Pete Lerza, DNP, FNP, WCP, is a Family Nurse Practitioner, Certified Wound Care Practitioner, and co-founder and co-CEO of Sailwinds Medical Group, a private primary care practice serving Salisbury, Cambridge, and communities across Maryland’s Eastern Shore. As both a practicing clinician and healthcare leader, Pete provides comprehensive family medicine and wound care services, blending clinical excellence with genuine compassion.

Pete’s broad clinical background spans emergency medicine, urgent care, and primary care, giving him a unique perspective on the full continuum of patient care and healthcare delivery. In addition to patient care, he mentors nurse practitioner and physician associate students, helping shape the next generation of advanced practice clinicians.

A graduate of The George Washington University and Wilmington University, Pete also serves as adjunct faculty for Wilmington University’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. He is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Delaware Coalition of Nurse Practitioners, and the Delaware Medical Reserve Corps.

Beyond medicine, Pete enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and children and developing innovative AI tools for healthcare that enhance communication, efficiency, and patient outcomes.
